I have spent hours making food for birthday parties, school discos, Christmas lunches and last minute bake sales to make sure my children feel included and don't miss out. It isn't just missing out with food, there is a huge social side to sharing memories with friends and peers alike. No one should to be excluded due to their allergies and I strongly believe everyone should be able to eat delicious food whilst feeling safe!
Family and friends have been telling me for years I need to write a book/start a blog, but I have never known where to start. I love baking, it calms me and gives me such pleasure to see people enjoy my creations.
The turning point for me was when a family friend was diagnosed with Celiac Disease when he was in his 30s, he had spent his whole life eating gluten with no problems and suddenly his diet was very limited. I found it really fulfilling to be able to give him some tips on buying foods etc. and even made him some sweet treats as a pick me up.
I realised I am certainly not alone, I am not the first mum to feel overwhelmed by allergies and intolerance's, there will most likely be a long line of families facing similar challenges in the future. Most people want to be able to share tasty food with their loved ones and it would be my pleasure to help make that a reality!
